I have been a florist for over 25 years, first working for others and then starting my own business, Irene Woodard Floral Design.

In 2003 I changed the name to True Blooms. With this name change, the emphasis of the business shifted organically to what I was becoming more interested in, a more sustainable world.

Working with the Earth Institute of Columbia University, The World Resource Institute in Washington D.C. and the NRDC these last years has completely convinced me, that True Blooms would have at its core a consciousness of benefiting the earth.

This past May, 2009 , True Blooms was chosen to design the stage set and create the floral arrangements for the Dalai Lama’s conversation at Town Hall in New York City.  We used what was seasonal and local, flowering cherry branches, azaleas, and ferns. 

As a business woman and mother, things were beginning to feel whole and True Blooms has emerged as an expression of what feels right for both my family and the community at large...
